And then there were four ...
While Fox executives are no doubt slashing their wrists over the prospect of Yankee- and Red Sox-less league championship serieses (Is there such a word?), I've got to say I'm not surprised.
As one who doesn't play fantasy baseball and so knows virtually nothing about any teams outside of the American League East, I have to say that neither the Red Sox nor the Yankees were particularly impressive this year. In both instances, their pitching was suspect—in any portion of the game. Couple that with a lack of hitting in the ALDS, and both teams deserved to lose.
And while I'd like to say wait 'til next year, both teams are getting appreciably older and will lose valuable players before the 2006 season begins.
