Say what you will about the Bush tax cuts, they certainly don't seem to be beneficial to a good portion of the population.
The nation's poverty rate rose to 12.7 percent of the population last year, the fourth consecutive annual increase, the Census Bureau said Tuesday ...

Overall, there were 37 million people living in poverty, up 1.1 million people from 2003.
So one in eight Americans is now officially poor while the poverty rolls increase by 3%. Shameful.

It's also worth pointing out that
The only city with a million or more residents that exhibited a significant change in poverty level last year was New York City, which saw the rate increase from 19 percent to 20.3 percent.
These statistics have to do with a previous blog. Lord knows the Bushies aren't doing anything to roll back these numbers as Christian (cf., Luke 18:22 and elsewhere) as such an effort would be.
