In One Eye

In my zeal a few days ago, I predicted the end of Tony Blair's political career. I seem to have forgotten how the Brits choose their Prime Ministers. However, his hold on the office seems to be tenuous.
The drastic loss of support for Labour, which saw its majority reduced by more than half, could ... increase pressure on Blair to relinquish his leadership early in favor of Gordon Brown, chancellor of the Exchequer.

The results suggested British voters had punished Blair for his support of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. Blair said Friday that he would now "listen to the people and respond wisely and sensibly."
That's certainly big of him—the last gasps of a dying politician.

Of course, for this poodle's master to act the same way would be expecting too much.
