The U.S. Department of Education approved proposals this week by Connecticut and 16 other states to comply with President Bush's school reform law, the No Child Left Behind Act ...

The purpose of the law is to close the achievement gap that finds some groups of children, such as minorities and those from low-income families, lagging behind others.

"The era of low expectations is ending. A time of great hopes and proven results is arriving," President Bush said this week in announcing that plans had been approved for all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
As if the Bushies cared about the education of minorities.

I love it when our intellectual President gets all worked up about low expectations and people not performing up to snuff in the classroom.
